Senior Systems Engineer

Location: Remote with office space available in Spokane, WA

A Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, testing, and deploying systems, networks, and solutions for small, medium, and enterprise clients. This includes the responsibility of resolving escalated service issues, coaching other engineers to resolutions, engineering and implementing complex projects, and for maintaining and overseeing the technology of their assigned accounts.

 Responsibilities: 

• Design, scope, implement and manage solutions that meet client business needs
• Assess networks, systems, and solutions for best practice and security/compliance alignment
• Assist in developing and maintaining vendor partnerships, certifications, and relationships
• Responsible for maintaining technical currency in alignment with business goals and chosen specialty/s
• Research new technology, evaluate viability, and present to team/s for lab build/testing and client sales integration
• Provide expert level consulting services during pre-sales, sales, and engineering calls
• Ability to lead system/solution upgrade, migration, and implementation teams
• Document all project tasks and procedures, provide peer review of team documentation
• Troubleshoot issues presented by clients, present findings, and provide remediation guidance
• Provide mentoring and technical guidance to team members and other Torchlight Staff, to include updates and guidance on internal procedures
• Set and meet client expectations for scope and schedule of projects
• Work independently and as a team, paying attention to detail and being creative with problem solving

Requirements

• BS/BA in an Information Technology field, or relevant certifications and work experience
• Experience leading a domain consolidation expert, or expert level knowledge of domain functionality
• Minimum 7 years Systems Engineering experience
• 5 years’ experience designing, implementing, and maintaining Windows Server based solutions
• 7 years’ experience implementing, migrating, managing, and configuring Azure AD, Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, Skype, OneDrive, and other Microsoft Cloud solutions (required), Active Directory and Group Policy design, implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and migrations in multi-client environments
• Experience with PowerShell and scripting techniques, virtualization (Cloud, Hyper-V and/or VMWare)
• Expert level understanding of networking principles and techniques including but not limited to – OSI/TCP IP Model, LAN, WAN, WiFi, 802.1x, VLANs, iSCSI, Firewalls / Security, switching, ISP setup and de-bugging, etc.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Expert level Microsoft Exchange on premise builds, management, maintenance, and various migration tracks, Microsoft SQL and Database usage and functionality
• Experience with HIPAA, Sarbanes Oxley, PCI DSS, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, and EU General Data Protection Regulation Compliance

Abilities required

Ability to lift 50 pounds, drive for work use, sit, and stand for long periods of time, ability to kneel and reach, and vision including focus adjustment. Approximately 25% travel is required, usually less. Must successfully pass a Washington State background check.
